D-Scores

Posted by EzekialStarr on Friday, May 30, 2014,
For starters, I noticed a problem with my Coach Scores formula. The worksheet was so big it needed to be spread over two workbooks and I had imported the end results from the first workbook into the second.  I realized later I should have imported further back because it left a possible glitch if a coach switched teams from one workbook into another, it would show as 2 coaches and both with only a few years under their belts.  This meant it would not show a Coach Score or give an inaccurate on...

Coach Scores

Posted by EzekialStarr on Thursday, May 29, 2014,
Today is the day I will be adding coach scores as a feature.  I had completed the formula some time ago but plugging in all the teams was quite tedious.  But then I said, "Why not make a formula for my formulas?"  So I developed a formula that would plug in everything for me.  It took some work but in the end was faster than doing them all manually.  And now that I have a template, it's even better: if I decide to plug in other worlds, I can do it in a matter of minutes (hundreds of times fas...

Recruit Potential Tool

Posted by EzekialStarr on Monday, May 26, 2014,
I've added a new tab to the "Player Builder" tool.  This tab allows you to plug in new recruits (or veteran players) and plug in where they are red, black, blue, high blue or unknown.  Rather than finding and putting in all of the ratings manually, there is a red box at the top where you can copy and paste the link to the player's rating page.  The ratings page is the first tab that pops up when clicking on a player link.  Here is an example of a link you would paste into the box:

Player Builder Overhaul

Posted by EzekialStarr on Saturday, May 24, 2014,
The player builder was only ever able to allow you to plug in one player at a time.  I felt that some coaches might want to be able to see their entire roster at once or compare several players against each other (like the recruiting compare list on WIS).  I took it a step further and added a feature so that at the click of a button, you have the ability to see your team's entire roster, WIS scores, Starr scores and suggested positions.  There are two panels so that you can compare one of you...

Records Tab

Posted by EzekialStarr on Friday, May 23, 2014,
I added a "Records" tab to the website, which will keep track of the best teams from each season onward in Rupp and Crum.  If others submit a link to a team page of an awesome team in another world, I would be happy to log that information for other worlds as well.

This tab also keeps track of some of the greatest players of all time.  I can only really keep track of the Rupp players, myself, but with all of your suggestions we can keep growing the "greatest players of all time" list to includ...

Coach Scores and other stuff :)

Posted by EzekialStarr on Saturday, May 17, 2014,
I've developed a formula that can track a coach's history in Rupp and place a numeric score on it.  I've asked around and I feel confident with the results =SE is giving.  I have plugged in every team in the N. Coast, University, and a couple in USA South.  GNE and USA South are next on my list, but I probably won't put it up on the website until I have most of the human coaches plugged in.  These scores take into consideration the past 10 years for all coaches.  Coaches with less than 10 sea...

Change of Plans

Posted by EzekialStarr on Tuesday, May 13, 2014,
I changed my mind on a couple of my plans.  For one, I did change both team and conference scores to scale on a 100 point system.  Later, I decided to change conference scores back to just a simple average of the 12 teams' team scores.  This way, each team can compare their team score against the conference score and know if their team is helping or hurting the conference.  It won't be a completely accurate measuring system as some coaches are great game-planners, but certainly if your team s...

All Rupp Teams Plugged In!

Posted by EzekialStarr on Sunday, May 4, 2014,
It took some doing, but I have finally plugged in all 384 Rupp teams.  This means when checking your player's SS, you can now be sure if he's ranked #1 that he really is the best player in DIII Rupp (according to the Starr Engine).  Here are some other things that have been done over the last week or so:

1 - cleaned up work page and replaced some formulas for shorter versions that yielded the same result.  This leads to faster processing times (nothing any of you will ever notice though, it's ...
